Celtic Pendant 'Triquetra'
For centuries the Triquetra has been one of the most important Celtic designs, found in manuscripts, metalwork and stonework throughout Ireland, Scotland and Wales.
The name Triquerta comes from Latin and describes the triangular design. The meaning of the knot is thought to relate to the coming together of three distinct parts – in early Christianity the Father, Son and Holy Spirit, from a pagan perspective it’s thought to symbolise the three feminine powers, Maiden, Mother and Crone, while in metaphysical circles the Triquerta most commonly illustrates mind, body and spirit.
Whatever belief system you subscribe to the Triquerta is an elegantly simple symbol that is beautifully executed in this silver pendant.
