Pendant 'Scottish Thistle'

A beautiful sterling silver traditional thistle pendant set with a cut amethyst. The thistle is the universally recognised flower of Scotland.

Hardy and sharp it is famed for alerting Scottish clansmen in Largs to a nighttime attack in the 13th century when one of the invading Norsement stood on a humble thistle and cried out in pain. The Scots rose from their nighttime slumber and defeated the invading army and the thistle has ever more been celebrated as a symbol of character and nobility.

In order to incorporate the richly coloured amethyst, this pendant moves the purple hues from the flower head to the swollen base of the flower where the seeds of the Thistle grow.
