This Clan takes it’s origins from Clan Donnachaidh (along with the Robertsons) and appears in records in the earliest days of the Scottish nation. Originally translated as “Dark or Brown Warrior,” no less than three Kings were called Duncan and no doubt this raised the popularity of the name amongst their subjects. Rooted in ancestry of the Celtic Mormaers of Athol, ‘Duncadh de Atholia’ 5th of Glenerochie, is reputed to be the founder of this Clan.
