Clan Hay
From ‘cupbearer’ to King Malcolm IV to Heritary High Constable of Scotland, the chiefly line of this Clan has been greatly influencial throughout Scottish history. With the granting of the Earldom of Erroll in 1452, this Clan has enjoyed the status of high office in the Kingdom for many centuries. Slains Castle on the Aberdeenshire coast was the original seat of this Clan but it now lays in ruins. This is one of the few Scottish Clans to have a private herald in the household of their Chief who is the Earl of Erroll.
